A hospital in Scotland has become the world's first location that will treat a patient suffering from cryptocurrency addiction. This is not a joke, even though it did bring a smile to my face. Castle Craig Hospital, which is located in Peebleshire, has setup a course of residential treatment for "crypto addicts.” Now is crypto addiction a real thing? The people of Scotland think it is. Gambling is an addiction and gamblers have support groups. The doctors in Scotland believe that crypto addiction falls into the same category. They need the support groups to talk about their condition, they need to share their feelings and life experiences in order to manage this affliction.
Sky News has quoted Chris Burns, a gambling therapist at the hospital and he said, "The high risk, fluctuating cryptocurrency market appeals to the problem gambler. It provides excitement and an escape from reality. Bitcoin, for example, has been heavily traded and huge gains and losses were made. It's a classic bubble situation."
Castle Craig is know for the treatment of various addictions and has, over the course of thirty years, treated over 10,000 patients who suffer various addiction problems. Prices start at US$2,500 per week for an extended treatment program and if you really need to detox, opt for the intensive treatment package which will set you back $4,000 a week. If you are an executive and don’t want to bunk in like the rest of us, sign up to the executive program with prices ranging from $6,500 per week to the full enchilada, which costs $12,300 per week.
So the next time your crypto tweaking, pull out your wallet and head over Castle Craig in Scotland and get the treatment that you deserve. Bitcoin anyone? Hang on will this be covered by HMO?
